The first flight of the MiG–AT training aircraft with the AL-55I engine developed by NPO Saturn.
July 29, 2008, Rybinsk. Flight tests of the new AL-55I engine developed by NPO Saturn on the MiG-AT training aircraft began on 28 July in Zhukovsky (Moscow region). The program of the flight test first phase includes 30 test flights. The first flight of the MiG-AT training aircraft equipped with two engines, one of which is AL-55I and the other one is Larzak of French manufacture, was successful. The AL-55I confirmed technical parameters and demonstrated excellent controllability. During 31 minutes of flight the AL-55I engine provided the aircraft climb to 3000 m, maximum flight speed was 610 km/h. Russian Federation honored test pilot Oleg Antonovich, Hero of Russia, performed the tests.
The 117Ñ engines of NPO Saturn development provide successful carrying out of the Su-35 aircraft flight tests.
July 7, Rybinsk. The flight development tests of the new Su-35 multi-purpose fighter with the 117Ñ-04 and 117Ñ-05 development engines of NPO Saturn development are going on in the Sukhoi Design Bureau. The Su-35 flight tests began on February 19, 2008 demonstrated that the 117Ñ engine application allows to increase the flight range, significantly improve maneuvering and dynamic characteristics of the aircraft.

July 2, 2008, Rybinsk. Saturn–Gas Turbines became a laureate of the Russian Energy Olympus–2008 annual Russian award in the National Gas-Turbine Energy Leader nomination.

June 27,2008, Rybinsk. Today, on June 27, 2008, the Annual General Meeting of NPO SATURN shareholders has been convened in Rybinsk. The shareholders and their authorized representatives possessing 86,5 % of the company shares participated in the meeting.

June 24, 2008, Annual UMPO Shareholders General Meeting was convened.
Yu. Pustovgarov, UMPO Chairman of the Board, and À.Artyukhov, UMPO General Director, in their speeches to shareholders said that 2007 has become another year of successful company work. Sales revenue of goods manufactured, which for the first time overcame 15 billion, amounts to RUB 15,8 billion, clear profit amounts to RUB 427 million. The last year was marked with various important work events and achievements. The most important of them is, certainly, the beginning of integration with NPO Saturn in the framework of UMPO and NPO Saturn strategic partnership memorandum.
The Deputies of the State Duma and Members of the Federation Council of the Russian Federation visited NPO Saturn and highly appreciated scientific and production achievements of the company and carrying-out of the SaM146 engine program for SSJ.
June 6, 2008, Rybinsk. – At NPO Saturn headquarters in Rybinsk a discussion of carrying-out the program to create the SSJ aircraft with the SaM146 engines took place.
The Deputies of the State Duma – representatives of the Traffic Committee, Committee on Industry and Budget Committee, Interfractional Deputies Group «Aviation and Cosmonautics» and Members of the Federation Council got acquainted in detail with modernization of production at NPO Saturn, application of state-of-the-art technologies, unique test facilities, up-to-date level of the biggest in Russia design bureau in the sphere of gas-turbine engine building and took part in a meeting with participation of Yaroslavl Region, NPO Saturn and Sukhoi Civil Aircraft Company leaders.
