NPO Saturn continues dynamic development of its production facilities
On October, 20th 2011 in the frame of celebrating the company’s 95th anniversary, the main site of NPO Saturn in Rybinsk (Yaroslavl Region) saw inauguration of several new modern production facilities and laying of the first stone at a new production shop construction site.
A working meeting between the representatives of Sukhoi, SCAC and PowerJet has taken place at NPO Saturn
On October, 13th NPO Saturn hosted a working meeting of the representatives of Sukhoi, SCAC and PowerJet with the participation of Igor Ozar, head of Sukhoi Design and Development Bureau, Vladimir Prisyazhnyuk, SCAC President and Jacques Desclaux, PowerJet President and CEO with the top-management of NPO Saturn.
The key subject of the meeting was the discussion of the items relevant to fulfilling the SaM146 delivery schedule in 2011. The parties reviewed the possibility of increasing the number of engines to be delivered in 2011 to meet the Sukhoi Superjet 100 customer delivery program.
During the working meeting the plans for 2012 were discussed as well as working assumptions of SCAC on selling its planes and the possibility of producing more engines to secure certification tests of the Sukhoi Superjet 100LR extended-range aircraft.
NPO Saturn has awarded its employees certificates of “Green Belt” and “Black Belt” of Lean Manufacturing
On October, 13th 2011 NPO Saturn hosted a working session of the Problem-solving committee ¹8À administered by the Ministry of Industry and Trade of the Russian Federation on the subject: “Different approaches and work results to improving the efficiency of the production system using Lean tools by the companies acting as suppliers of aerospace-related products”.
The representatives of Sukhoi Company, NAZ Sokol, VASO, Helicopters of Russia and MC ODK took part in exchanging hands-on experience acquired through implementation of Lean projects. At the beginning of the session a ceremony of bestowing the title “Green Belt” and “Black Belt” of Lean manufacturing to the NPO Saturn production development department team took place. The associated certificates were awarded by Ilya Fedrov, NPO Saturn CEO.
NPO Saturn has won the PROFAVIA contest in the field of occupational safety
October, 12th 2011, Rybinsk. – By the decision of the general committee of the Russian professional union of aviation industry workers (PROFAVIA), NPO Saturn OJSC is considered the winner of the contest in the category “The company having the best system of providing its employees with uniform, protection shoes and personal protective equipment”.
NPO Saturn has successfully completed design and development work on the new 8 megawatt dual-fuel marine gas-turbine engine
October, 10th 2011, Rybinsk. – NPO Saturn has completed the design and development phase working on the R&D government contract “Development of design technologies for a marine gas-turbine engine having a full life of up to 100 thousand hours and power of up to 8 megawatts (based on the 4th-generation gas-turbine engine developed on the government order) and a gas-turbine power unit based on the 8 megawatt marine (ship) gas-turbine engine.
Accumulated in-service operating time of the NPO Saturn GTD-6RM engines has reached its historic value - 1 000 000 hours
October, 7th 2011, Rybinsk. – Accumulated in-service operating time of the NPO Saturn GTD-6RM engines has reached its historic value - 1 000 000 hours.
In 2000 as a result of converting D-30KU/KP2 aircraft engines, NPO Saturn developed the GTD-6RM engine intended for operating as part of the GTA-6RM gas-turbine power unit having nominal rated power of 6 megawatts.
The GTD-6RM is manufactured using parts and sub-assemblies of the D-30KU/KP engines that have reached its designed life limits while meeting specified performance of the GTD-6RM engine allowing to maintain a competitive price of the finished product compared to competitor prices.
