Subsidiary of NPO Saturn – A. Lyulka research and development center – celebrates its 65th anniversary.
March, 30th 2011, Rybinsk. – Today the Moscow-based subsidiary of NPO Saturn – A. Lylka research and development center – celebrates 65 years from the day of its creation.
The birthday of the research and development center just like the birth date of its founder Arkhip Mikhailovich Lyulka happens to be in the last decade of March. The company was founded on March, 30th 1946 by the decree of the government of USSR and the Order of the minister of aviation industry M.V. Khrunichev. Based on these official documents the State union plant ¹165 was transferred to the General Administration of the Ministry of aviation industry to develop on the premises of this small-size tool plant in its past a powerful R&D base for jet engines.
Final fifth batch of D-30KP-2 engines produced by NPO Saturn is delivered to the Chinese customer
On March, 23rd the fifth batch of D-30KP-2 engines manufactured by NPO Saturn was delivered to the Chinese customer.
It is the final batch consisting of 11 engines under the delivery contract between FSUC Rosoboronexport and the People’s Republic of China entered into force in April 2009 for delivery of 55 engines in the period until 2012.
Governor of Yaroslavl Region Sergey Vakhrukov spoke highly of Saturn’s innovation activity.
On March, 21st 2011 at the City Hall of Yaroslavl Region a working meeting took place between the governor of Yaroslavl Region Sergey Vakhrukov and NPO Saturn CEO, chairman of the Yaroslavl branch of the Machine builders union of Russia Ilya Fedorov. In the course of the meeting the parties reviewed the key performance indicators relevant to several ongoing industrial programs and the company’s financial recovery plan. Also, Sergey Vakhrukov gave a high evaluation of the innovation activity of NPO Saturn that, according to the Fast Company magazine, had been voted among the ten best innovation-driven companies in Russia.

March, 18th 2011, Rybinsk. – NPO Saturn has made it to the ten best innovation-driven companies in Russia according to the Fast Company magazine.
The corporate magazine “Saturn” is ranked among the best corporate publications in the industry.
March, 17th 2011, Rybinsk. – The corporate magazine “Saturn” published by NPO Saturn has made it to the TOP-15 best corporate publications in the corporate publications rating of the Russian industrial companies administered by the “Production management” Internet-portal.
The NPO Saturn engines took to the sky the second development prototype of the fifth generation fighter
On March, 3rd 2011 the second development prototype of the Russian fifth generation fighter powered by the NPO Saturn engines made its maiden flight. The aircraft took off from the runway at the Komsomolsk-on-Amur aviation production association. The flight was successful. No remarks on the performance of the engines were made. The fighter was piloted by the honored test pilot of the Russian Federation Sergey Bogdan, the same pilot who took to the sky the first T-50 prototype early in 2010.
