June 27, 2014, Rybinsk. - On 28 June Russia celebrates the Day of the inventor and innovator.
NPO Saturn is one of the cutting-edge companies in the Yaroslavl region having integrated the intellectual property management systems and innovation activity organization with a clear description of the mechanisms of identification, formalization and implication of the intellectual property objects into the company’s daily operations including the personnel creativity motivation tools.
The management, engineers and shopfloor operators involved in the creative search for the most daring ideas to be put to practice facilitate the implementation of the new technological processes and improvement of the ones already existing, development and enhancement of the product line design, rational use of resources and materials and cutting down production costs.
In 2013 565 company employees took part in the inventive and innovative activity having submitted 394 applications with proposed innovations and 67 applications to register the intellectual property objects including the inventions, useful models, PC programs, databases, production secrets (the know-how) and corporate works of science.
The profits generated by the use of 6 inventions and useful models in the design of serial products delivered to the customers and applied production processes amounted to 4.4 million rubles. The effect of using the 240 proposed innovations in production equaled 87.4 million rubles.
Traditionally, just before the all-Russian Day of the inventor and innovator NPO Saturn tallied up the results of a competition dubbed “The contest of inventive and innovative ideas - the way of solving the current tasks encountered in the scientific and technical activity of NPO Saturn throughout 2013.”
Following the competition results, the most active department with relation to the organization of inventive activity was the mechanical strength design department of NPO Saturn, and the team of the workshop 57 with regard to innovative ideas.
The title “Best useful model” was awarded to the useful model under the title “A blade of a turbine machine” (the authors: Y. Shmotin - general designer, A. Mikhailov - chief technical auditor in charge of mechanical strength issues in the technical risks management department and A. Krivonogov - deputy head of compressors design department).
The following were considered the best innovative ideas:
- “Optimization of the manufacturing technique for producing ceramic moulds used for casting Stage 1 low-pressure turbine blade of the SaM146 engine” (the authors: O. Kuranova - head of a production engineering bureau in charge of casting processes in workshop 722, S. Zhabrev - senior production engineer of workshop 722, M. Lotonina - senior quality specialist in the Turbine blades production competence center and V. Malyarov - chief foreman of a production sector of casting operations in workshop 722).
- “Burning through the gas-circulating coating muffle with spongeous titanium for cleaning the muffle working area from excessive chemical elements in a saturated mixture” (the authors: A. Gorskiy - head of an engineering bureau in workshop 4 and A. Malakhov - deputy head of the Turbine blades production competence center for production issues).
The “Company’s best inventor” title was awarded to E. Shekhovtseva - chief design engineer from the SaM146 engine serial support department. The “Company’s best innovator” title went to V. Afonin - head of the D30KU/KP/KU-154 engines design; I. Maryuticheva - senior production engineer in production facility 93 and D. Kiselev - deputy head of production in workshop 57.
The NPO Saturn Research and Production Association (OJSC) is an engine-building company specialized in the design and development, production and after-market support of gas turbine engines for military and civil aviation, naval ships and power-generating plants and gas-pumping units. The association is part of the Russian union of mechanical engineers all-Russian public organization whereby the regional branch is headed by I. N. Fedorov, NPO Saturn CEO.
