July 28, 2014, Rybinsk. - The 28th (summer) NPO Saturn Youth Gathering dedicated to the year of culture in the Russian Federation took place on 25-27 July at the Demino ski center. The organizers of this main corporate event were the social programs department, the NPO Saturn youth board and the company’s trade union joined by the Yaroslavl branch of the Union of Russian mechanical engineers. By tradition, the general sponsor of the Gathering was the VTB Bank, a business partner of NPO Saturn.
17 teams in total were competing in sports, intelligence and creativity, including the colleagues from Perm (the Motor team representing Perm Motor Plant), from Moscow (a team called Salut) and from Yaroslavl (the VTBest team). The athletic part of the youth gathering consisted of a six-hour death march, terrain orientation, passing through a ‘rope park’, wheeled relay race, ‘the Chasmen battle’, ‘fun football’, ‘seizure of the town’ and the Iron Lady triathlon. The creative part of the competition included a traditional greeting on the theme of ‘Our team’s personality cult’ and the humoresque home assignment on the subject ‘Peculiarities of the national culture’. The contest of musicals gave the gathering some novelty and adornment whereby each team performed a miniature on stage - a musical extract based on one of the world’s famous musicals. During the intelligence competition, the jury evaluated the originality of performance and mastery of the presentation of the ‘clay elks’. The team captains also had to defend their title during a dedicated competition between the captains. After the gathering parodies parade, a festive ceremony of summarizing the competition results and bestowing the awards took place.
Having scored the highest number of points, the winners of the 28th (summer) NPO Saturn Youth Gathering and the winners of the prestigious Andrey Savin challenge cup were the Liteinyi Period team (NPO Saturn). The honorable second place went to the Nasledniki team (UEC-Gas Turbines) while the third place was won by the Zvezdy and stakhanovtsy team (NPO Saturn).
Alexey Molchanyuk, NPO Saturn human resources director, having greeted all the contestants with yet another youth gathering noted: ‘The NPO Saturn Youth Gathering is the ideal of cultural leisure for the company’s youth. Today we see the new faces, the new teams, even the new venue of staging this event. What stays unchanged is the good old tradition of holding youth gatherings - the atmosphere of a holiday and friendship. You are all young, creative and active people. You are the ones who will be building the future of your companies; you are the ones other people will look up to. I wish all my colleagues a lot of success at work and in life.’
Artem Tikhonov, head of social programs department, chief judge of the youth gathering: ‘The high level of the NPO Saturn Youth Gatherings is due to the professionalism of its organizers. Over 40 people are involved in the event’s organization. We strive for perfection trying to make every Gathering unforgettable, raising the bar each year as it is pointless to live without an objective. One of the objectives of the youth gathering and that of the overall NPO Saturn youth policy is to establish and foster a form of culture and corporate ethics which would be appealing to people. It has worked so far.’
Tatyana Guseva, sports and mass activities project manager, chief judge of the athletic part of the youth gathering: ‘There is a saying which goes: ‘If a business is worth doing, you should do it well.’ The panel of judges enjoys the good, quality and beautifully performed work. The amazement, crying and shouting during the athletic events is the number one token of appreciation from the contestants. We shall continue to surprise our colleagues with new contests, make surprises and render life of our employees and guests brighter and more exciting.’
Alexander Ivin, captain of the winning team ‘Liteynyi period’: ‘The secret of a victory, in my opinion, is in rigorous training and good preparation for creative contests. It is not the first time that we win the youth gathering, and we have no right to relax for a single minute. We love this atmosphere, the emotions, the event-packed schedule and quality administration of all the gathering’s competitions. I have maintained an active life position ever since I was a student, and when I came to work for Saturn back in 2007 I created my own team and we started to play. I would like to invite new teams, anybody who wishes to take part in the NPO Saturn Youth Gatherings; don’t be afraid of physical loads and competition, I urge you to join us, participate in the competition and to win it.’
