October 10, 2014, Rybinsk. - NPO Saturn (a company in United Engine Corporation of the Rostec State Corporation) conjointly with the P.A. Solovev Rybinsk State Technical University took part in celebrating the Day of the industry of the Yaroslavl Region. The event featured the latest achievements of the industrial sector of the economy and played host to discussions on the most topical subjects regarding the regional industry development.
Following the initiative of the event organizers - the Yaroslavl regional administration and the Yaroslavl chamber of commerce and industry - the Day of the industry was attended by the leaders of the regional administration, companies, industrial and scientific communities, scientific-engineering clusters as well as by the leadership of the high-tech and science-intensive companies.
The science-industrial exhibition set up especially for the event, dubbed “Industry. Innovations. Modern technologies” featured the products of the regional industrial companies, the innovative developments of the scientific organizations, design bureaus, inventors, the creative youth and those of the innovation-driven companies.
NPO Saturn in collaboration with the Rybinsk State Technical University presented their experience of working together in the frame of the Gas turbine machinery and power engineering innovative territorial cluster and through the implementation of a complex project entitled “Creating a high-tech production set-up for gas turbine high-pressure compressors with a limited number of stages - a gas turbine engines competence center”.
In the frame of the Day of the industry, a round-table discussion hosted by the All-Russian people’s front and entitled “Regional aspects of the import substitution and those of the technological modernization” whereby the session was attended by the Yaroslavl Region governor Sergey Yastrebov and the Forum on the implementation of the industrial policy in the Russian Federation and in the Yaroslavl Region took place. The plenary session of the Forum was dedicated to the goals, objectives and mechanisms of realization of the federal and regional programs and to the measures of supporting the industrial players and preparing the future workforce.
“The Day of the industry is one of the biggest congress-exhibition-type events in the Yaroslavl Region with relation to the industry; it serves as a formidable venue for establishing contact between the companies in the region and broadening their mutually profitable collaboration. Today I saw a real opportunity to interact with new partners, - shared Victor Polyakov, deputy NPO Saturn CEO for the development of industrial cooperation between the companies in the Civil Engines Division. - In view of the annual growth of production volume and a deficit of labor, the question of outsourcing is very important to our company. NPO Saturn is already in a position to outsource serious orders and we shall continue working towards that end while helping the development of the small-to-medium companies placing a lot of emphasis on the companies in our region.”
The grand finale of the event was an award ceremony celebrating the winners of the “Best industrial company in the Yaroslavl Region” where NPO Saturn had come in first in the category “Mechanical engineering and metalworking” based on the 2013 performance.
NPO Saturn is one of the leading innovative companies and cannot be underestimated since it employs 12 thousand people; it is a large brain center represented by design and process engineers, shop-floor operators, engineers, etc. - noted Dmitriy Sekretarev, deputy Yaroslavl Region governor. - This company allows us to be known as the aircraft engine-manufacturing region. Also, the Gas turbine machinery and power engineering cluster is set up in the territory of this region. At the moment, we have devised a roadmap of the cluster’s development and the final steps are being taken to finalize the registration of this non-profit partnership as a legal entity. We put a lot of hope in the development of the small- and medium-size entrepreneurship in the frame of the Gas turbine machinery and power engineering cluster.”
The NPO Saturn Research and Production Association (OJSC) is an engine-building company specialized in the design and development, production and after-market support of gas turbine engines for military and civil aviation, naval ships and power-generating plants and gas-pumping units.
