December 25, 2014, Rybinsk. - The main customers of the company have expressed full satisfaction with the results of NPO Saturn’s (a company in UEC belonging to the Rostec State Corporation) activity aimed at maintaining the continued airworthiness of the D-30KP-2 engines, the best-selling propulsion system of the Russian engine-building industry; namely with the seamless MRO operations on the D-30KP-2 engine fleet performed over the 2011-2013 time period.
According to Sergey Tikhomirov, NPO Saturn deputy chief executive officer in charge of the commercial and transport aviation gas turbine engine programs “the major Russian and international customers plan to continue operating the aircraft powered by these engines until 2030-2035. Our goal is to solve the issues regarding the continued airworthiness of the engine fleet and the improvement of the overall performance of the engines in revenue service. The volume of the MRO interventions performed on the D-30KP-2 engines in the nearest future will exceed 100 engines per year.”
The D-30KP-2 engine, which has for several years been the cornerstone of NPO Saturn’s core business, is still in demand today. The company serially produces this engine in the frame of the existing contracts and plans to sign a number of new contracts to deliver the D-30KP-2 to customers. The overall number of the D-30KP-2, which will have to be manufactured over the next few years, exceeds 200 engines.
The NPO Saturn Research and Production Association (OJSC) is an engine-building company specialized in the design and development, production and after-market support of gas turbine engines for military and civil aviation, naval ships and power-generating plants and gas-pumping units.
