March 23, 2015, Rybinsk. - The 8th UEC production system transformation workshop got on its way at the Second international technological forum “Innovation. Technology. Production”. Over three days the workshop participants, around 65 people, representing the UEC companies and other forum attendees having wished to take park in the workshop will be working on reducing the production lead time, bringing down costs and boosting efficiency in the frame of the projects and processes existing in real life.
There are five such projects. They are: “Decreasing the production lead time of the components of the SaM146 engine mixer”, “Decreasing the production lead time of the SaM146 engine stages 1,2,3 sectors”, “Increasing the efficiency of the CNC-machine area”, “Increasing the efficiency of the X-ray inspection area”, “Decreasing costs of electro-chemical machining of the SaM146 engine booster blades”.
The project content has been validated by UEC. The participants had been sent project specifications ahead of time containing the main information about the project goals, the necessary transformations and project scope with a set of data required for a preliminary project assessment. The project teams consist of both the specialists having previously had some Lean manufacturing experience, and those who are new to it possessing only the minimum of theoretical knowledge. Each team is aided by a coach, a representative of UEC.
According to Ilya Kleymenov, head of the NPO Saturn production system development department, “the project solutions that the teams will come up with in the course of the 8th UEC production system transformation workshop will be studied by NPO Saturn in terms of their applicability in the company’s production shops. It’s worth mentioning that a transformation workshop is not only a means to learn through practice, it is also a great opportunity to identify change leaders - potential future managers who are capable to think progressively and lead the way.”
Taking part in the 8th UEC production system transformation workshop allows every specialist to acquire some new experience and knowledge, improve the ability to work in a team, schematic perception, decision making and global vision of the processes. Application of the generated ideas and action plans in real production shops and transfer of the experience and best practices will be an undeniable advantage to all the participants hailing from different UEC companies.
