March 23, 2015, Rybinsk. - Today, during the fist day of the Second international technological forum “Innovation. Technology. Production”, an extramural session of the interbranch research and technology seminar administered by CIAM was held focusing on the applied problems of continuum mechanics in engine building.
The main achievements of Russian scientists in the field of design of modern gas turbine engines were presented at the seminar: gas dynamics of high speeds, optimal profiling tasks, interaction between shock waves and the boundary layer, physical gas dynamics and a number of other fields which are topical at the present stage of the engine building development.
“At present, what’s most in demand and presents interest are mathematical modeling tasks which allow to decrease the volume of engine testing and understand more clearly the design process we use in creating engines, - noted the doctor of technical sciences, professor, head of a CIAM department Yuriy Temis. - Traditionally, our seminars are held in CIAM, however, in recent times we have come to understand that what we do is not very well known in the industry. The forum and the R&T conference have allowed us to broaden our seminar’s format. I’m grateful to the leadership of RGATU and NPO Saturn for having provided us with such an opportunity. I’m convinced that we need to conduct such events in order to be able to establish and maintain closer contacts between the scientists from our institute, your design engineers and the RGATU professors.”
