March 24, 2015, Rybinsk. - The second day of the II International technological forum “Innovation. Technology. Production” started with a plenary session. Sergey Yastrebov, governor of the Yaroslavl Region and Ilya Fedorov, NPO Saturn chief executive officer welcomed the participants of the forum - around 1000 Russian and foreign professionals.
Governor of the Yaroslavl Region Sergey Yastrebov: “The forum we are attending today has tremendous importance as a new step, or a new tool for bringing together the ideas and practices existing at present in Russian and abroad in the field of aircraft engine manufacturing as it also relates to the activities carried out by our territorial Gas turbine machinery and power engineering cluster located in the Yaroslavl Region. I’m absolutely convinced that the discussion which has started here today will be fruitful, especially now when finding analogs for the previously imported goods has become essential to us.”
NPO Saturn chief executive officer Ilya Fedorov: “It is important that the forum participants feel that they are not wasting their time here. If eventually each participant comes to understand what he or she has to do tomorrow in order to earn a new profit, open a new business, or get some new opportunities then the forum organizers could consider this event a success. My personal advice to the young participants of the forum: tear down all administrative barriers and move on. The fewer of such barriers will remain, the more successful you will be businesswise.”
“The vision of the future. Foresight of the science and technology development. Open innovations” was the main theme of the forum’s plenary session. Alexander Kashirin, the Rostec State Corporation deputy chairman of the R&T council delivered a lecture on the open innovations as the main trend of modern development of the corporate sector. Mikhail Bakradze, head of a VIAM laboratory spoke about the next generation of materials and production processes used in engine manufacturing. Vladimir Bitkin, key account manager at Siemens PLM Software presented to the forum attendees the innovative solutions in the field of mechanical engineering. Albert Efimov, head of the Skolkovo robotics center shared about the prospects of development of the robotics in Russia and in the world.
Later on, the work began in the main sections of the forum. In total there were 14 themed forum sections. The key points of discussion were the implementation of additive manufacturing, polymer composite materials, high-temperature materials, the use of computer-aided engineering in design, analysis of technical risks in the development and operation of aircraft and industrial gas turbine engines. We are talking about innovative methods of machining and prospective process solutions in production, development of outsourcing and collaboration with the small-to-medium-sized business, preparation of highly-qualified personnel for the high-tech industries, and the forms of state support of the small- and medium-sized businesses.
An expert from a company in the gas turbine machinery and power engineering cluster participates in the work of each section. This, so-called “participant”, challenges the section attendees to solve the real production problems. In their turn, the participants of the section - the professionals from other organizations and companies offer for review their standpoints and ways of solving concrete problems.
This is how the links are built between technical experts representing machine-building companies and the scientists involved in fundamental research; experts in the field of engineering and the machine tool manufacturers, leaders of small-sized companies and the leadership of large-scale industrial corporations. That means we are solving the main task of the forum, which is to learn from each other’s practical experience, broaden business connections, get familiar with the state-of-the art tools of technological development, and in the end, become an innovation-driven team of think-alikes.
Alexander Kashirin, the Rostec State Corporation deputy chairman of the R&T council: “First of all, it’s worth mentioning that what makes the Rybinsk forum differ from any other forum is its practical bias, secondly - it is a powerful venue for communication and exchange of experience. Saturn is steadily moving towards becoming a more effective, more sustainable and innovation-driven company.”
Leonid Mozheiko, deputy head of the city district of Rybinsk: “Today’s forum shows and proves that Rybinsk remains a city of science and technology. Serious companies are located here, and one of the event organizers, NPO Saturn, is without a doubt a flagship of the Russian gas turbine engineering and a strong player on the world market. The fact that many young specialists and young scientists, who are meeting today at this discussion venue, confirms that the Russian mechanical engineering does have a future.”
Valeriy Poletaev, president of the P.A. Solovev Rybinsk State Aviation Technical University: “Discussing items related to the design and application of the latest Russian and foreign achievements in science and engineering will pave a solid foundation for the implementation of strategic projects focused on the development of the Russian engine building.”
