March 24, 2015, Rybinsk. - Signature of the general agreement regarding the ways of collaboration between NPO Saturn and the P.A. Solovev Rybinsk State Aviation Technical University for a three-year duration took place in the frame of the Second International technological forum “Innovation. Technology. Production”. As it was done in the previous period, RSATU has committed to being NPO Saturn’s reference higher learning institution while Saturn has committed to being the university’s reference company. The scope of the said agreement also includes the RSATU Aviation college.
As it was already done before, RSATU commits to building a syllabus comprising all the key job profiles in accordance with the company’s specific needs. Based on the results of joint research-and-development projects it commits to creating a dedicated database and keeping it up to date. It also commits to developing an innovative infrastructure being guided by the needs of the company and to promoting the key values of NPO Saturn among RSATU undergraduate and postgraduate students.
In turn, NPO Saturn commits to providing students with part-time employment with the company as engineers and technicians. It also commits to providing the students with all the necessary materials which allows to bring the academic process as close as possible to the specifics of the company’s operations, ensuring information support of the university in order to facilitate the growth of the number of the future students, involving the university in the R&D activity carried out by the company. In the meantime, the principles of collaboration between the university and the company in the research-and-technology domain, and regarding joint R&D projects are defined in the dedicated sections of the NPO Saturn innovative development program.
At the moment, 9 NPO Saturn employees work at RSATU as instructors, there are also 32 RSATU intra- and extramural postgraduate students working in the company. Last year 40 specialists of the company took part in the work of the State attestation commission; 274 people did their industrial internship with the company, out of which 103 undergraduate students of the 1st, 2nd, 3rd, 4th and 5th year of RSATU and 171 students from the RSATU Rybinsk aviation college.
NPO Saturn continues to take part in the implementation of the state plan of training scientific workers and professionals for the organizations in the defense-industrial complex for the period of 2011-2015 in the institutions of higher vocational training and postgraduate vocational training (custom-made training following the company’s specific needs). In 2014 NPO Saturn issued 28 contractual training invitations to the state-tuition students in the domains which are currently most critical to the company: “Aircraft engine manufacturing” and “Mechanical engineering technology”.
Since 2011 in total the company has sent 98 people for training, out of which 67 are being trained by RSATU; 31 people are being trained by the Aviation college; there is a trainee attending the Moscow Aviation University and another one attending the N.E. Bauman Moscow State Technical University.
Contracts under which the company guarantees employment to the students undergoing specific, company-chosen training and the later commit themselves to staying with the company for at least 1 year have been signed with the students. According to the new 2015 agreement, the target-trained students are given premiums to their scholarships.
Also, the new general agreement provisions for a functioning mode based on co-funding allocated by NPO Saturn and the “Numerical modeling of gas turbine engines - an UEC competence center” engineering training center founded by Saturn in partnership with RSATU. The center can be used for target training of the RSATU students in the frame of the “New workforce for the defense-industrial complex” program.
As part of the implementation of the president program dedicated to upgrading the qualification level of the engineering cadre over the 2012 - 2014 period, in 2014 32 NPO Saturn employees were trained by RSATU at the company-prioritized training courses: “Gas turbine machinery part manufacturing automation based on flexible machining systems” and “Modern approaches to creating a competitive engine of the new generation”.
With the support of Rosnano’s Fund of infrastructural and educational programs, in 2014 NPO Saturn together with RSATU carried out a project of upgrading the level of employee qualification and development of competences in the field of gas turbine engine blades electro chemical milling.
In 2014 7 undergraduate and 4 postgraduate RSATU students were involved by NPO Saturn in the development of the R&D fields prioritized by the company. Contracts for a total amount of RUB 600 thousand of additional scholarship money were signed with them.
The NPO Saturn Research and Production Association (OJSC) is an engine-manufacturing company specialized in the design and development, production and after-market support of gas turbine engines for military and commercial aviation, naval ships and power-generating plants and gas-pumping units. The association is part of the Union of Russian mechanical engineers, an all-Russian public organization whereby the regional branch is headed by I. N. Fedorov, NPO Saturn CEO.
