June 5, 2015, Rybinsk. - “Seven billion needs. One planet. Use sparingly” is the slogan under which the people of the world are celebrating today, on 5 June 2015, the World Environment Day. The “green economy” principles are becoming an inalienable part of NPO Saturn’s (a company in UEC of the Rostec State Corporation) high-tech activity. Having fully committed itself to ensuring compliance with the requirements of the Russian and international standards in the field of environment protection and occupational safety, and having received appropriate international certificates, NPO Saturn has reconfirmed its social responsibility to the community, its partners, and its employees.
According to Victor Polyakov, NPO Saturn chief executive officer, “attention exercised towards occupational safety, and ecological and industrial safety remains at the highest level in the company. NPO Saturn, having made it, according to RBC, to the TOP 50 Russian largest technological companies list continues searching for and implementing solutions allowing to combine the quality, productivity, occupational safety, and the environmental aspects in the production of gas turbine engines.”
The main purpose of NPO Saturn’s environmental activity is to ensure compliance with the regulations and specific requirements limiting detrimental effect of the production processes and its products to the environment, rational use of natural resources, and in the end, observance of the environmental code.
As the result of operating and preventive activity aimed at preventing the emergencies, the company had no accidental releases or emissions into the environment in 2014 whatsoever. The analysis of ambient air specimens at the border between the city’s residential area and the company’s industrial site demonstrated that the average pollutant concentrations in the air do not exceed the regulated threshold. The company discharges its waste fully into the municipal sewer system with subsequent biological rectification.
Among the most significant environmental events on the company’s roster are the completion of a unique sanitary-protective zone designated for all the companies located on the NPO Saturn main industrial site. The measurements and independent expert evaluations show that both NPO Saturn and its subsidiaries can stay within their existing premises as none of them does any damage to the city’s ecological basis. NPO Saturn has put into operation a vacuum-distilling installation, representing an innovative technology used in the recycling of emulsions and emulsion mixtures, which proves to be the most effective both ecologically and economically. The company’s development and serial production infrastructure is being gradually filled with high-tech equipment. In particular, in 2014 NPO Saturn installed an etching line which has allowed he company to no longer discharge any waste, and minimize the emissions into the atmosphere and generation of production waste. Reconstruction of galvanic lines continues with the use of foam absorbers allowing to filter emissions into the atmosphere.
