June 26, 2015, Rybinsk. - As goes the long-standing tradition, in anticipation of the All-Russian Day of Inventive and Rationalization Activities, NPO Saturn has tallied up the results of its inventive and rationalization activities (IRA) fulfilled in the course of the past year. The executives, engineering staff or workers engaged in the creative pursuit and putting into life of the most daring ideas, facilitate the introduction of new technological processes and honing those that already exist; development and enhancement of the design features of the company’s products, saving the resources and materials as well as cutting down production costs.
According to Victor Polyakov, NPO Saturn chief executive officer, “NPO Saturn has provided for all the necessary conditions for the formalization, protection of the intellectual property generated by the company’s research and technological advancement and creating the right incentives for maintaining an environment of creativeness within NPO Saturn. Being an important factor in creating an R&T backlog, intellectual property serves as the basis for the development of the company’s unique competences and uniting its carries into professional communities at the level of technical schools and competence centers.”
In 2014 alone, 559 NPO Saturn employees took part in the inventive and rationalization activities having submitted 450 rationalization proposals and 74 applications for registration of the IRA results among which are the inventions, useful models, personal computer programs, databases, production secrets (the know-how) and applicable scientific inventions. The most active in terms of the inventive and rationalization activities were the company’s forging design department, the mechanical strength design department, the Saint-Petersburg R&T branch of NPO Saturn and some other divisions of Saturn. The overall profit generated by the intellectual property in the operating and commercial activity of NPO Saturn equaled RUB 16.4 million. The overall economic effect yielded by using the 241 rationalization proposals has amounted to RUB 99 million.
The NPO Saturn Research and Production Association (OJSC) is an engine-manufacturing company specialized in the design and development, production, and after-market support of gas turbine engines for military and commercial aviation, naval ships, and power-generating plants and gas-pumping units. The association is part of the Union of Russian Mechanical Engineers, an All-Russian public organization.
NPO Saturn is part of United Engine Corporation (JSC) and acts as the leader of the Commercial Engines Division, a business unit of UEC founded on 09.10.2012 as a result of integration of the following companies: NPO Saturn (OJSC), Aviadvigatel (OJSC), PMZ (OJSC), Metallist-PM (CJSC), Energetik-PM (OJSC), Motoservis-PM (CJSC), and Zheleznodorozhnik-PM (CJSC).
