July 28, 2015, Rybinsk. - The 30th anniversary NPO Saturn youth gathering was held from 24 to 26 July on the banks of the Volga River at the Demino ski resort bringing together over 300 engineers.
Inaugurating the event, Victor Polyakov, NPO Saturn chief executive officer, stated: “I’ve been lucky to be present at the most of such Saturn youth gatherings and wish to express my appreciation of the savvy humor and excellent physical condition of the contestants. When you talk to young people, you get an enormous boost of energy, willingness to win and youth. Such corporate fêtes bring about new acquaintances, informal talks, reinforcement of good relations between our companies and always some special energy. The weather being sunny and nice, I wish you to maintain the same ambience in your hearts. Good luck to all of you.”
In the course of three days, seventeen well-prepared teams including the ones from Perm, Moscow and the newcomers from Saint-Petersburg were competing in sports, creativity and intelligence.
The updated event program included four creative disciplines: the traditional greeting of the participants entitled “A gift with character” during which the teams surprised the spectators with the unexpected images, sang, recited poems and danced; the homework competition dubbed “The youth thirty gatherings later” staged as stand-up comedy. An exciting show “The army dancing” and the final creativity contest taking part on the third day of the event - a parody show mimicking the gathering itself humorously called “Tonight you are singing, tomorrow the newspapers are singing about you.”
The athletic part of the gathering was also quite eventful. The contestants were to run a 6-hour death march - the all-time favorite with the event organizers - Saturn’s sport team headed by Tatyana Guseva. Other disciplines included terrain orientation, water relay, the fun running competition dubbed “The cockroach sprint” and the escape from captivity in an intellectual game called “The quest”. The gents were fighting each other during the “The battle of Kursk” while the ladies competed in the “first-aid relay”. One of the event’s genuine show-stoppers was “The defense of the fortress” competition.
During the night open-air discotheque the participants and the guests of the gathering danced and sang along with the “Leprikonsy” band which had been invited as a musical gift from the company’s leadership to everybody.
In the evening of the closing day, the jury tallied up the results and presented the winners with awards. The grand prix of the completion went to the “Motor” team representing the Perm Engine Plant.
The 2nd place was awarded to the “Successors” team representing UEC-Gas turbines, and the also prestigious 3rd place went to the “SV-SHOW” team representing NPO Saturn.
The very special Andrey Savin challenge cup went to the “Successors”. The battle of the captains was won by the captain of the “Motor” team Oksana Potyagailo, a manager of the Perm Engine Plant’s corporate culture and youth policy department. “Our team was going to this victory during five gatherings. In the course of these three days, we were indeed giving it all that we had, exerting the last efforts, - shared Oksana. - We are overwhelmed with winning the first place and consider it a well-deserved victory. As soon as we return to Perm, we are going to share our excitement with Sergey Popov, our CEO, showing him the cup and the medals. The NPO Saturn-hosted youth gatherings have now become a good tradition for us. The youth of the Perm Engine Plant and NPO Saturn are one big family, and we cannot do without each other.”
Reminiscing on the youth gathering evolution, NPO Saturn athletic department manager Tatyana Guseva noted that “nowadays, all the conditions for the contestants have been well established. Whereas before the stage was sort of makeshift using the grass turf, today the teams compete on a state-of-the-art stage equipped with professional lighting and sound. The most comfortable living conditions have also been provided for: delivery of firewood, centralized site cleaning, biotoilettes and trash pickup. The level of professionalism of the participating teams is also on the rise. For instance, today almost every participant of a youth gathering has mastered the basics of mountain hiking. We foster in people courage and self-confidence, and that makes us proud of ourselves.”
Natalya Dmitrieva, head of the Yaroslavl regional direction of VTB Bank, business partner and general sponsor of youth gatherings said: ‘On behalf of our bank, I wish to thank the participants for the great sense of humor, stamina and your will to win. We are immensely proud to be a business partner of such enterprise as NPO Saturn and a youth gathering sponsor. We like the atmosphere of this event; here we make up for the lack of communication which is essential in a partner relationship. The VTB team, formerly an active participant of the youth gathering movement, has promised to soon return to the ranks of the participating teams. I wish you many new victories and lots of luck, and please accept my most sincere congratulations with this thirtieth anniversary youth gathering - it is unbelievable!”
