Forging operations as the main subject of a dedicated section at the Rybinsk-held ITF 2015

Site news 26.03.2015

March 26, 2015, Rybinsk. - The use of new wear-resistant materials for forging dies, particularities of protective-lubricating coatings and new techniques of producing engine components were the main topics of discussion during the Increasing durability of forging dies section at the second international technological forum Innovations. Technologies. Manufacturing.
7 dedicated reports were made during the section. Among the participants were the delegates from NPO Saturn, the P.A. Solovev RSATU, the Ufa State Aviation University, Fuks Oil and the Ural Company.
The section was focused on the optimal deformation modes of titanium-based and refractory alloys, the use of ultrafine grain and nanostructured blanks for forging as well as the advanced ways of deformation and methods of blank local heating for subsequent forming.
The section moderator Nikita Rassudov, NPO Saturn chief forger noted “in view of very stringent requirements of design documents and production environment, we are faced with the need of developing state-of-the-art, progressive and high-precision technologies. At the moment, one of the important directions of Saturn’s development in this respect is drastic increase of durability of the tooling used in the forging process which ultimately impacts the cost of forged blades. In the course of the section, working shoulder to shoulder with our colleagues from the leading institutes and enterprises having practical and technical experience of solving such problems, we were able to concentrate on the most topical issues posed to our industry today. Last year’s ITF 2014 proved the effectiveness of such dialog having allowed to pinpoint the vector of current and future development of the forging business.”
