March 26, 2015, Rybinsk. - High-tech types of repair of gas turbine engine components were the main subject of discussion of the “GTE repair technologies” section at the Second international technological forum held in Rybinsk.
The participants discussed the topical issues of the GTE repair technology evolution through the dedicated presentations and presented some innovative repair techniques. The key-note speakers were the representatives of NPO Saturn, Liburdi Group (Canada), Kennametal Stellite, Aviadvigatel, Laservorm GmbH (Germany), Huffman Corporation, VIAM, Salut, aviation repair plant 218, Motor Sich and Nanocarbon materials.
The section moderator Andrey Smirnov, deputy NPO Saturn chief production engineer for repair operations summarized the section results: “Repair is one of the stages in a part’s life cycle. At the same time, repair operations serve two main purposes for an engine manufacturer: ensuring the warranty service and the commercial element. Constant innovative development of gas turbine engine repair techniques is a vital necessity of modern engine manufacturing as well as of a repair station. NPO Saturn holds many competences in the field of GTE repair operations. The company integrates several specialized repair divisions, it is equipped with the most state-of-the-art equipment covering virtually all the repair processes, and it can also boast modern laboratory facilities. But, it goes without saying, that to be able to constantly evolve, we have to recur to the Russian and world experience. That’s why this section has been included in the forum’s agenda for the second time. Each attendee has learned something interesting, met the colleagues and projected topics and formats for future interaction.”
