March 26, 2015, Rybinsk. - Possibilities of optimizing the production engineering lead times, the production engineering cost estimation methodologies as well as the available production capacity calculation were the main topics of discussion at the “Modern production engineering organization” section of the Rybinsk-held II international technological forum. The section was sponsored by Siemens.
The experts representing NPO Saturn, Siemens, Starrag AG and Mahr as well as the representatives of the likes of Quantorform, Tesis and the P.A. Solovev RSATU were able to discuss the items related to the organization of production engineering through 16 dedicated presentations. The presentations on the cost management at designing and fabricating production tooling, specialized tooling output rate setting based on statistical analysis and also based on the methodology of calculating production cost of different options of a jet engine parts machining during the production engineering phase were considered the most interesting. Also, during the section, the concept of development of the design departments and tooling production facilities, using the examples taken from the aviation industry, was presented.
The section moderator Sergey Denisov, deputy NPO Saturn chief engineer for production engineering noted: “Production engineering calls for the availability in a company of full sets of design and production documentation as well as the necessary means of production. If we wanted to move from one-off production to serial production and subsequently even further, to mass production, then the volume of the production engineering activities would also increase. One of the ways to decrease labor intensiveness and production engineering lead times is the unification of the means of production. Working together with our colleagues, we were able to study all the items on the agenda; the dialog proved to be interesting and productive. The most important thing is that we have been able to determine common ways of treating production optimization, each participant being guided by the interests of his or her own company.
