On May 10, 2016 NPO Saturn was visited by the first ever woman astronaut, hero of the Soviet Union, deputy of the State Duma’s sixth convention, deputy chair of the Duma foreign policy committee, member of United Russia’s High council - Valentina Tereshkova. The famous Yaroslavna spoke to NPO Saturn employees about conquering space and state policy, about the development of the Yaroslavl Region and significance of the companies operating in the defense-industrial sector, about hobbies and essential values.“It is always a great honor for me to visit this outstanding company which goes by the name of Saturn. Your hands of gold, your bright heads, your brilliant thoughts help make our aviation stronger,
- said Mrs. Tereshkova
opening the meeting with a team of NPO Saturn employees. – Visiting such companies as this reinforces my conviction that Russia has always been invincible; with such great people and with support of our president, we will be able to overcome any hardships.I wish to thank you for your work as well as for your remembrance. We are getting farther and farther from the first flights into space. It was tough, but we were young; we were being trained by the great masters and we simply had no right to voice any difficulties. There are few of us left today - the true space trailblazers. But what makes us strong is the love of our country”.
After thanking the meeting attendees for the cordial reception, Mrs. Tereshkova accepted the invitation to revisit NPO Saturn during the festive days of celebrating the company’s 100th birthday and left a note in its Distinguished Guests Book: “It was a great pleasure to visit your company and speak to its employees. It was delightful to see that NPO Saturn is fully dedicated to reinforcing the might and security of our nation. I wish to every employee of this legendary company a lot of success, happiness and the best of luck!”
