October 25, 2016, Rybisnk – Five best employees of NPO Saturn, one of the largest companies of United Engine Corporation (part of Rostec State Corporation), have visited the Baikonur Cosmodrome in Kazakhstan where they watched a launch of the SOYUZ spacecraft with three cosmonauts on board.
The five following employees of NPO Saturn were awarded with a trip to the Baikonur Cosmodrome for their labour achievements: Vladimir Gussev, a turner, building 93; Irina Belyaeva, a CNC operator, building 32; Alexander Venikov, a CNC operator, building 5; Svetlana Kachkova, an investment pattern maker, building 49; Maxim Shimin, senior foreman of blade and deep grinding area 2, shop 34.
On October 18 and 19, 2016 the NPO Saturn representatives had a unique opportunity to visit the Cosmonaut Training Centre, to observe the state commission’s work aimed at flight readiness review and validation of the space crew, to attend a press conference of Russian state media with cosmonauts, to visit the space museum as well as to watch the last-minute arrangements for the flight and the takeoff of the SOYUZ spacecraft itself.
Such a present was made in the year of NPO Saturn’s 100th anniversary with the assistance of Valentina Tereshkova, the first female cosmonaut, a Hero of the Soviet Union, a State Duma deputy, who had been to our enterprise more than once and at one of the meetings with the company’s staff she expressed the willingness to help to arrange a visit of NPO Saturn people to the Baikonur Cosmodrome.
The participants of the trip gained the most vivid unforgettable impressions. “We were at the site an hour before the vehicle launch”, says Alexander Venikov. “Then waiting for the takeoff, we were worried, of course. We had a feeling of delight, inner inspiration because such a thing happens once in a lifetime. I am happy that the company has let me find myself in the very heart of the Russian cosmonautics, to meet cosmonauts, strong brave people, scientists for whom it is only work. And just a moment later they are far from the Earth. It is an honour to see the place where such great people as Yu. Gagarin, G. Titov, S. Korolev worked, to breathe the same air. Such a change is given only once and, needless to say, it is pleasant to be one of those lucky people”.
