March 22, 2017, Rybinsk. – Restoring traditions of the past, a collaboration agreement was signed within the framework of social and cultural partnership between NPO Saturn, the largest industrial enterprise of the Yaroslavl Region (a company of UEC, Rostec Corporation), the Fyodor Volkov first Russian professional theatre – a frequent winner of the theatre contest “Golden Mask” - and the social infrastructure created for the leisure and cultural development of NPO Saturn employees, Rybinsk inhabitants and guests – the Spasskoe Park-Hotel – on March 22, 2017.
The agreement provides for recitals aimed at the popularization of dramatic art and educational work for the company’s employees and Rybinsk inhabitants and held regularly on the premises of the Spasskoe Park-Hotel, NPO Saturn’s branch organization. Besides it is planned to draw up a motivating program enabling NPO Saturn employees to visit performances of the F. Volkov Theatre as well as allowing the F. Volkov Theatre people to use the social infrastructure owned by NPO Saturn.
During the visit made by representatives of the Department of Culture (Government of the Yaroslavl Region), managers of the F. Volkov Theatre and the Spasskoe Park-Hotel to NPO Saturn, the delegation saw the company’s production shops, the test bench building, the helipad and considered the possibility of using open-air areas as performance venues.

, Director of the Department of Culture (Government of the Yaroslavl Region), “the Government of the Yaroslavl Region is never outside the orbit of such events, we support and encourage the revival of social and cultural partnership. Rybinsk has always been an intellectual and industrial centre of our country, a centre of scientific thought. It is very significant for us that two important organizations of our region – NPO Saturn and the F. Volkov Theatre – should sign such an Agreement today. I am pleased to attend a historical event and to see young people here who will familiarize themselves with the best pieces of the Russian art – the Volkov Theatre is one of the best theatres in our country, we are very proud of it. The theatre was named after its founder Fyodor Volkov, a merchant’s son, a stage director, an actor, an artist, and an entrepreneur: starting with a barn on the bank of the Volga River and an amateur troupe, he made his theatre reach the professional level and was summoned to Petersburg to develop theatrical business.In the XIX century the Yaroslavl Theatre was known not only as the oldest but also as one of the best theatres. Schepkin, Strepetova, Moskvin, Kachalov, Savina, Stanislavsky… appeared before its footlights. During the two and a half centuries of its history the theatre was located in different buildings, the present one has been hosting the theatre since 1911. It is one of the landmarks in Yaroslavl.At the present time the theatre is the only federal drama theatre in the region. The staff is headed by Evgeniy Marchelli, Artistic Director, and Yury Itin, Managing Director. In the playbill of the “First Russian Theatre” you can find the names of leading Russian and European stage directors. The theatre is a constant participant of international festivals and contests, the winner of multiple prestigious awards, including four national theatrical prizes “Golden Mask”, the Stanislavsky Prize with the wording "For a contribution to the development of scenic art and theatrical business in Russia".Annually the theatre organizes two forums: the International Volkov Festival under the motto “Russian Dramaturgy in the World’s Languages” which is one of the five major theatrical forums in our country and the youth festival “Theatrical Russia’s Future”.The Volkov Theatre has a few sites: besides the Main Stage and the Chamber Stage (about 900 and 100 seats respectively) there is also the Medium Stage located within the stage of the large hall, and an art-café.
