Alexander Artyukhov, General Director of United Engine Corporation (JSC) (a Rostec State Corporation company) and Aleksey Rakhmanov, President of United Shipbuilding Corporation, have signed a collaboration agreement as related to the production and delivery of ship gas turbine engines and units in the frame of International Naval Show-2017 in Saint Petersburg.
The document will facilitate the development of mutually advantageous cooperation between the holdings in the field of development and delivery of the ship gas turbine engines М90FR, М70FRU, М70 FRU-2, М70FRU-R (reverse), as well as gas turbine and diesel-gas turbine units based on them in order to ensure the building of ships for the Russian Navy. The agreement is signed with a view to fulfilling the government’s defense order in accordance with the State armaments development program until 2025.
Currently UEC is working on the establishment of a national marine gas turbine production base at UEC-Saturn PJSC (Rybinsk). In April 2017 in the presence of Vladimir Putin, Russian President, a marine assembly and testing facility was put into pilot operation. This facility is designed for complex tests of marine gas turbine engines, gas turbine and diesel-gas turbine units in different configurations. The Russian leader started tests of the gas turbine unit М35R-1 with the М70FRU-2 engine in a test bench with a capacity of 15 MW.
“A gas turbine engine is a scientific product requiring significant time for development. The agreement signed with USC gives us the opportunity to go ahead in the implementation of actions focused on the creation of advanced new-generation marine gas turbine engines and power plants on their base”, – said Alexander Artyukhov
, General Director, United Engine Corporation.
Today UEC-Saturn PJSC is carrying out three development activities related to marine applications: mastering of serial production of the gas turbine engine M90FR with a capacity of 27 500 h.p.; development of the gas turbine engine M70FRU-2 and the marine gas turbine units М35R-1, М35R-2 and М70R with a capacity of 10 000 h.p.; development of the engine М70FRU-R with a reverse power turbine for replacement of foreign-made engines in service on Russian ships. To date some development and pilot-production gas turbine engines have already been manufactured and some are in the process of manufacture. All the development activities are being performed in full compliance with the approved schedules.
Besides the Company has started to form a scientific and technical stock aimed to create advanced marine gas turbine engines and units.
