Site news 19.10.2017

October 19, 2017, Rybinsk. On October 18, 2017 PJSC UEC-Saturn (a part of United Engine Corporation (JSC), a Rostec State Corporation company) celebrated its 101st birthday. The Day of the Company was full of events which became real presents to not only engine-builders, but to all the inhabitants of Rybinsk. The program of the festive occasion included a morning performance of the municipal brass band in front of the main entrance to the company, a ceremonial opening of Alley of Engine Builders and of the Regional Museum and Vocational Guidance Centre in the district of engine builders, a celebration in honour of the companys staff and its best employees at the gala night in the Palace of Sports Poliot with a concert and theatre program from the Fiodor Volkov First Russian Theatre and fireworks.

Last year the administration of Rybinsk in cooperation with PJSC “UEC-Saturn” gave a second life to the memorial “Aircraft” (jet liner Tu-104A), the main landmark of the district called Skomorokhova Gora, shortly before the centenary of the town forming company. After the restoration the liner monument which became a symbol of engine builders’ town shone in new splendor. A year later, realizing their intentions to continue beautifying the district where engine builders’ families live, the town and the plant opened Alley of Engine Builders. The renovated alley imitates a takeoff runway, it is decorated with lights and lanterns, benches and information stands. The alley design was developed by UEC-Saturn’s order.

Viktor Polyakov, Deputy General Director –Managing Director, PJSC UEC-Saturn: “It is remarkable that now we are able to give such presents to the town dwellers as this alley for Rybinsk to be more beautiful and comfortable and for the younger generation to stay in our town.”

Denis Dobryakov, Mayor of Rybinsk: “I am grateful to the company for our joint implementation of this project. It is important for each townsman to know and understand that   the core production in our town is aircraft engines and that the plant and the town represent a monolith, we cannot be separated.”

The next event of the gala day became a ceremonial opening of the Pavel F. Derunov Regional Museum and Vocational Guidance Centre on the premises of Rybinsk school No.12 – a joint project of school No.12, PJSC UEC-Saturn and the Department of Education of Rybinsk and the Yaroslavl Region. UEC-Saturn’s active support of the Pavel F. Derunov school museum started in 2012. Thanks to the company the museum have exhibits which have become an incentive for targeted work of teachers with children dreaming of having engineering education and of working in the field of high technology. The promoters of the updated exposition are sure that the Regional Museum and Vocational Guidance Centre will allow taking the work with the rising generation to the systematic level ensuring a higher quality of popularization of technical education and engineering jobs, patriotic education of young people.

Irina Loboda, Head of the Department of Education of the Yaroslavl Region: “Today we have a unique event in the life of the school, in the life of the company, in the system of relationship between education and business. Let me express my gratitude to PJSC “UEC-Saturn” for their attention to the educational system, their involvement in the upbringing and education of our children who are the future of our Russian engineering school, continuers of Pavel F. Derunov’s activities, all those people who will promote glorious deeds of our great country.”

Viktor Polyakov, Deputy General Director – Managing Director, PJSC UEC-Saturn: “In 1924 Rybinsk began mastering plane technologies and forming a specific technical intellect and intellect of general culture. To keep up these traditions is our goal. It is wonderful that now there are all the conditions created for that. We must enable young hopefuls to develop their abilities as much as possible.”

“Aircraft engine builders are a special sort of people. In order to be one of them it is not enough to graduate from an aviation institution of higher education and to be employed by a plant or a design office. One has to prove by his life and selfless work that he is inextricably bound by the aspiration to be skyward, by the persistent search for sustainable solutions to engineering problems” - said Valery Kirillov, a national artist of the FR, an actor and a stage director of the Fiodor Volkov Yaroslavl Theatre, who was the host of the gala night in the Palace of Sports “Poliot” where the celebration in honour of Rybinsk engine builders took place. The new, hi-tech and faery format of the celebration program was appreciated by numerous spectators – representatives of UEC-Saturn’s and its associated companies’ staff, the government of the Yaroslavl Region and the administration of Rybinsk, managers of companies and municipal authorities.

“Saturn is town-forming company. It is difficult to imagine how many generations of Rybinsk people have cast their lot with the home plant. How many glorious labour dynasties have entered their surnames in the century-old history of the domestic engine-building leader,”Ekaterina Kapustian, the hostess of the celebration, pointed out from the stage.  Ekaterina is chief editor of Yaroslavl television Channel One which has been broadcasting the program “Time of High Tech” about PJSC UEC-Saturn’s activities every month for a few years already.

On the occasion of the Company’s birthday for high professional competence and for a contribution to the development of domestic engine building  98 people were awarded  Honorary Diplomas of PJSC “UEC-Saturn”, 13 Saturn employees - Honorary Diplomas of the Ministry of Industry and Trade,  12 people – a Note of Gratitude of the Ministry of Industry and Trade,  9 - Honorary Diplomas of the Governor,  14 – Honorary Diplomas of the Mayor of Rybinsk,  6 - Honorary Diplomas of Rostec State Corporation, 4 - a Note of Gratitude of Rostec State Corporation.

Maksim Avdeev, Deputy Chairman of the Government of the Yaroslavl Region:”On behalf of Governor of the Yaroslavl Region Dmitrii Mironov, the Government of the Yaroslavl Region and on my own behalf let me congratulate you with all my heart and profound respect on this day. To be the first is a challenge. To remain the first is a double challenge. To be Saturn might be a destiny. It means to be the first, to be able to remain the first and to move forward. What you do for Rybinsk people, the region, the country, how regularly you move ahead, how much you create each time – probably only due to the united staff, to the fact that you believe in what you and your country need, that you are responsible for your work and love it. On behalf of the government I will point out that in the future we are going to continue paying deference and lending support to the company. And hopefully we will implement the project “Smart factory” before long. And you will be able to show the country how our industry should advance, how engine building should progress!”

Viktor Polyakov, Deputy General Director – Managing Director, PJSC UEC-Saturn: “Our work is rich in events, we still develop, build and create unique products. The company’s operations have recently been honoured with the President’s personal attention twice – last November Vladimir V. Putin handed over a Note of Gratitude of the President of the RF to the engine builders and in April 2017 there was the Russian leader’s visit to Saturn which was unprecedented in terms of duration. That demonstrates the significance Saturn has for the country, being, I dare say, a national treasure. We work so as to strengthen the power of Russia. We have acquired competencies of marine gas turbine building which did not exist in Russia. The mere fact and the importance of what we have done this year will be realized a bit later when our engines and powerplants are applied to Navy ships. I wish health, well-being and new achievements to all the engine builders! Let the company develop actively, let Saturn’s people live a little bit better and become richer every year!”
