PJSC UEC-Saturn’s Human Resources Director shared his views on the personnel onboarding system in the Company during the 4th Aviation Industrialists Congress

Dmitry Barvinok, Human Resources Director of PJSC UEC-Saturn (a part of United Engine Corporation of Rostec State Corporation Company) gave a talk on the personnel onboarding system in the Company, and, in particular, on the “Dual Education” program within the scope of the 4th Aviation Industrialists Congress taking place in Kazan.

   UEC-Saturn is an innovative enterprise, actively putting advanced technologies into production: additive technologies, application of polymer and ceramic composite materials, supercomputer technologies, etc. The Company is implementing a whole range of large-scale projects in civilian and military directions. SaM146 power plant system for commercial aircraft Sukhoi Superjet 100 is produced in Rybinsk in partnership with Safran Aircraft Engines Company. UEC-Saturn is actively developing industrial engines line, participating in the program of creation of the most advanced PD-14 engine for airliner MC-21, producing D-30KP engines for Il-76 family aircraft, implementing marine and industrial gas turbine engines programs, and so on.

   Currently the total number of personnel of UEC-Saturn’s principal enterprise is over 13 000 people. Average age of the employees – about 43 years old, 21% are young people aged under 30. The most in-demand careers: aircraft and rocket engines design; flight-type engines; machine building; design-engineering support of machinery production.

   “UEC-Saturn is a high-tech company; it not just develops and manufactures power plant systems of various applications, but also puts in place advanced technologies being of great importance for Russian industrial development in a whole, – Dmitry Barvinok said. – This is, for example, additive technologies. That’s why, as a rule, all new employees at the time of their entry, already have a relevant profile basic education, that they have got in the secondary vocational institutions (Rybinsk Aviation College, Rybinsk Industrial-Economical College, etc.), institutes (Rybinsk State Aviation Technical University, Moscow Aviation Institute, Samara National Research Institute, and others). It is therefore necessary to start the adaptation process as early as from studentship”.

   Since 2014 a project “Labor force training for high-tech industrial branches on the basis of dual education” is being implemented jointly with Rybinsk Industrial-Economical College. Pursuant to Collaboration Agreements UEC-Saturn is organizing a new model of educational process for students making provision for training practice on work training equipment of the Training Center, manufacturing practice directly in production departments of the enterprise. Besides that we organize traineeship for teaching staff at the enterprise and introductory tours for students, we pay out educational grants for good progress in studies. UEC-Saturn’s specialists participate in intermediate and final qualifications.

    “The Results of “Dual Education”” project are improvement of training quality, positive dynamics in higher qualification categories assignment to graduates, guaranteed employment for each graduate who concludes apprenticeship contract with UEC-Saturn, – Dmitry Barvinok noticed. – For us it is, first of all, enforcement of the most wanted competencies, as well as reduction of the onboarding period of the new employees in shops”.
   PJSC UEC-Saturn’s Training Center has a license for educational activities on 34 professions (including set up operators of CNC machines, turners, millers, grinders, blades polishers, etc.). Total area of the center is more than 3 200 m2. It is equipped with training room with 10 simulators, simulating operation of CNC machines control consoles, and at the training-production site there are 14 units of up-to-date equipment. Training time is 2 to 6 months.

   In liaison with P.Soloviev’s Rybinsk State Aviation Technical University, one of the “base” higher educational establishments of the United Engine Corporation, a program of students’ target training is being implemented for their further work at UEC-Saturn; as well as there is co-operation in the framework of implementation of the project aimed at introducing a regional standard of industrial growth human resourcing in the Yaroslavl Region. For instance, 29 places for 16 specializations were assigned for employer-sponsored education according to the Bachelor’s programs, specialists programs and Master’s program in 2018. Selection of candidates was done with taking into account the scores of the Unified State Examination (mathematics  ≥27, physics  ≥36, Russian language  ≥36). As of today 60 people are being trained in the field of target allocation. In 2017 285 students passed professional practice at the enterprise. At the same time 39 employees of UEC-Saturn are taking a post-graduate course in the university.

    Coaching system built at UEC-Saturn plays a special role in the personnel onboarding. Coaches are direct organizers of the students’ production-technical training and they are personally responsible for their training quality.
    Various competitions and forums are held at UEC-Saturn aimed at facilitating the experience exchange, detecting the most promising and self-motivated employees: competition “The best young employee of PJSC UEC-Saturn”, professional skills completion on profession “Set up operator of CNC machines”, Forum of working youth active core “Primer”, intellectual games. Among entertainment activities we can mark Winter and Summer Youth Rallies, Sports and Athletics meetings, Russian ball game open tournaments and others.

   The 4th  Aviation Industrialists Congress took place on August 9-10, 2018 in Kazan in the frames of the 9th international specialized exhibition “Aerospace technologies, advanced materials and equipment” (AKTO-2018). UEC’s representatives took part in plenary meetings and round tables of the Congress.
