March 29, 2019, Rybinsk. – On March 28, 2019 PJSC “UEC-Saturn”(a Rostec State Corporation company) has officially delivered a full-scale mock-up of by-pass turbojet engine AL-55 designed for the new generation of training aircraft to school #12 n.a. P.F.Derunov. This interactive object has become a part of exposition of the school museum which has a status of Regional museum-carrier-guidance center. The event was linked with a celebration of 103 years from the day of birth of Pavel Derunov (1916-2001) — Director of Rybinsk engine-building enterprise in 1960-1972, 1974-1986, Hero of Socialist Labour, laureate of the USSR State Prize in science and engineering, Honorary freeman of the city of Rybinsk.
AL-55 mock-up has been installed on the podium near the booth narrating about the configuration of turbojet engine and covered by a glass cube. When the engine mock-up is started, one can see well the difference between high and low pressure loops. The engine operation is accompanied with sound and lighting effects – the mock-up simulates different cycles of AL-55 operation. It has a function of sound intensity regulation, individual start of components – combustion chamber, low pressure loop, etc.
Honorary right to “start” AL-55 engine was granted to Viktor Polyakov, Deputy General Director – Managing Director of PJSC “UEC-Saturn”, Honorary freeman of the city of Rybinsk and to Ivan Derunov, great-grandson of Pavel Derunov, a student of school #12. Viktor Polyakov

Regional museum-carrier-guidance center on the basis of school #12 describes the development of engineering ideas and activities of the great compatriot – P.Derunov, about historical trajectory and current activities of the school and city-forming enterprise. Opening of the center gave opportunity to students of all educational establishments of the city and region to become acquainted with PJSC “UEC-Saturn’s” products and with principles of gas turbine engine operation. Arrival of the new showpiece in the school exhibition became an undeniable contribution into advancement of prestige of engineering efforts and in upbringing of the younger generation in keeping with the best traditions of engine builders.Denis Dobryakov
