A robotic method of grinding aircraft engine parts developed by UEC was recognized as the best innovation project at "Archimedes"

JSC "UEC-Saturn" (a part of United Engine Corporation, a Rostec State Corporation company) was awarded at the XXII Moscow International Salon of Inventions and Innovation Technologies “Archimedes”, held on March 26 to 29, 2019 in Moscow. The "Method of Grinding Curvolinear Surfaces of Part on Robotic Technology Complex" invention which improves quality and accuracy of machining was acknowledged by the International Jury with golden medal and recognized as the best innovation project in the field of aerospace
The XXII Moscow International Salon of Inventions and Innovative Technologies "Archimedes" took place from 26th to 29th of March 2019 in Congress Exposition Centre "Sokolniki", Moscow. The main goals of the Salon are stimulation of inventive, patent-licensing and innovation activities; development of the market for new products and services.

The method of grinding curvilinear surfaces of part on robotic technology complex, developed by UEC-Saturn, Rybinsk, (Russian patent for invention No. 2639584, authors V.S. Stogov, A.A. Koryazhkin, S.A. Pichuzhkin) can be applied in mechanical engineering for machining of curvilinear surfaces of parts by generating method using a robotic technology complex, for example machining of airfoil edge for compressor and turbine blades and vanes. This method takes into account physical processes, which accompany machining, variation of mechanical properties of parts, allows transferring manual machining to NC equipment or to a robotic technology complex. The new method is a prerequisite for creation of autonomous unmanned production, with self-learning function based on adaptive algorithms.

UEC-Saturn's innovative activity was also acknowledged with bronze medal of the "Archimedes-2019" Salon for the development of the “Method of Electrochemical Machining of Titanium and Titanium Alloys" (authors A.K. Ufimtsev, D.G. Penkin). This invention (Eurasian patent No.030498) relates to the electrochemical machining of metals and alloys by pulse current and can be used for forming intricately shaped surfaces of parts for aircraft gas turbine engines. The method includes machining of titanium and titanium alloy parts in electrolyte by vibrating electrodes with using anode adjustable rectangular pulses from constant-amplitude voltage supply. This invention is dedicated to increase in performance due to simplification of technology and reduction of labour-intensity. The growth in performance of machines will make it possible not to purchase additional equipment or to considerably increase capacity of the electrotechnical machining site for GTE blades.

UEC-Saturn was also awarded a Diploma of gratitude and appreciation for active participation in organization and execution of the Salon.
