August 12, 2019, Rybinsk. – Fifteen years ago, on the 12th of August, 2004, a State Registration Certificate of a legal body was obtained – a Closed Joint Stock Company “VolgAero” Manufacturing Enterprise was established on a parity basis by Russian Company PJSC “UEC-Saturn” (part of United Engine Corporation, a Rostec State Corporation company) and French Company Safran Aircraft Engines.
The official opening ceremony of CJSC “VolgAero” – the company producing parts for SaM146 engine, for Russian aircraft Sukhoi Superjet 100, for CFM56 engine and for aircraft Boeing 737 and Airbus A320 – took place on the 14th of October, 2005.
Today, CJSC “VolgAero” can justifiably name itself as a marketable world-class supplier of engine parts for commercial aviation. The company’s staff is 400 people; the nomenclature of the manufactured parts comes up to 36 part numbers for SaM146 engine, booster spools for CFM56, five part numbers of rotating rings and TRV for LEAP engine. As far as the booster spool for CFM56-7 engine is concerned, during the last four years CJSC «VolgAero» has been firmly holding its position of the main supplier of Safran Aircraft Engines.

, acting SaM146 Program Director, PJSC “UEC-Saturn”: «By virtue of cooperation with CJSC “VolgAero” the certification program and SaM146 engine development program have been implemented, development and flight tests engines have been produced, and currently more than 400 SaM146 production engines are manufactured and being operated by the leading airlines.”
Production of the joint venture includes six lines where 78 equipment items are operated. For manufacturing of guide vanes, rotating parts and structural parts made of titanium, aluminum and nickel alloys CJSC “VolgAero” owns technologies of turning and milling, manual and automatic welding, special processes – plasma spraying, heat treatment, shot peening, sand blasting, non-destructive inspection – blue etching, x-ray inspection, CMM measurements. It is planned to introduce new production technologies, namely, brazing and skewed holes drilling technologies will be mastered next year.
Over a period of its activity CJSC “VolgAero” is continuously working on reduction of production cycles, improvement of parts production quality, extension of competence and area of personnel knowledge, increase of efficiency and safety of working sites. Principles of program and project management, lean production, supply chain management and human factor are successfully applied in all business units of the enterprise.
From management point of view, the results of coming to financial indices, to production capacity obtained at CJSC “VolgAero” have significantly exceeded the results of the objective model. In particular, the key index of the cost of a gross hour of the joint venture is at the level of the best world values.
