The accreditation demonstrates that the level and competences of UEC-Saturn (a company of United Engine Corporation, State Rostec Corporation) meet requirements of international standards and make it possible to be part of the supply chain for leading programs of aircraft engines on the global market.
NADCAP is an international program developed by Performance Review Institute (PRI), USA for the standardization and accreditation for suppliers of level 2-4 components in the aerospace industry. It considers requirements of all the subscribers in the world aerospace sector. The accreditation under the NADCAP program is an indispensable condition for the production and delivery of level 2-4 components to world aircraft engine manufacturing companies. UEC-Saturn became the first company of UEC and the tenth Russian company accredited by NADCAP.
An audit according to the NADCAP program is the most stringent check of special process because, when audited, audit specialists of a company to be accredited shall carry out the entire manufacturing process of three parts as required by the product customer in the presence of an independent auditor.
The NADCAP accreditation for the special process "Fluorescent Penetrant Inspection" (FPI) became UEC-Saturn's pilot project implemented under the guidance of the Chief Engineer Division. FPI had been prepared for NADCAP accreditation since early 2018 and included a number of actions aimed at adjusting the special FPI process and associated equipment, elaborating Quality Management System documents related to customer requirement management, arranging and undergoing two NADCAP audits (a pre-assessment audit in July, 2019 and the main one in January, 2020).
NADCAP accreditation will enable to strengthen and widen the cooperation with the foreign partner that is a key one for UEC-Saturn – Safran Aircraft Engines. In accordance with the plan approved by the both companies it is expected to have step-by-step accreditation of the basic special processes used in the projects of parts delivery for LEAP-1B and CFM56-5B engines.
