UEC presented the project of re-engining the Be-200 amphibious aircraft with the SaM146 engine at Hydroavialosalon

Within the framework of the 12th International Exhibition "Hydroaviasalon-2018" held in Gelendzhik, United Engine Corporation (a part of Rostec State Corporation) presented the project of the Be-200 amphibian aircraft re-engining with the Russian-French power plant SaM146.

SaM146 is an integrated power plant which includes a turbofan engine and a nacelle with a reversing device. SaM146 is produced by PJSC "UEC-Saturn" (Rybinsk) on terms of equal partnership with Safran Aircraft Engines for powering Sukhoi Superjet 100 passenger planes. SaM146 deliveries and all after-sales services are performed by PowerJet (a joint venture founded by Safran Aircraft Engines and PJSC "UEC-Saturn"). PJSC "UEC-Saturn" are responsible for the development and manufacture of the fan and low pressure compressor, the low pressure turbine, engine assembly and tests, Safran Aircraft Engines are responsible for the high pressure compressor, the combustion chamber, the high pressure turbine, the accessory gear box, the engine control unit, PPS integration and flight tests.

In the course of the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum in May 2018, UEC-Saturn and Safran Aircraft Engines concluded a framework agreement on the development of a SaM146 engine modification for the reengined version of Be-200. The companies agreed to deeply upgrade the digital automatic control system software of carry out a major revision of software of the digital automatic control system of the current SaM146 engine version for the purpose of its integration with the Be-200 aircraft and further certification of the reengined version.

The implementation of the Be-200 re-engining project which includes the development and certification of a new power plant modification will allow the following:
• to bring the Be-200ChS aircraft on the European and American markets;
• to strengthen the positions of the Russian aviation industry on foreign markets in general.

The dispatch reliability for the SaM146 engine is 99.9%. In general, the SaM146 performance is higher than the average level for engines of this class. The engine is successfully operated under extreme climatic conditions - at extremely low / high temperatures. Thanks to SaM146, SSJ100 is able to land and take-off under any natural climatic conditions. At the same time, a number of operators operate the engine very intensively - up to 9 hours per day.

The SaM146 engine is certified in compliance with EASA and IAC AR regulations and since 2011 it has been in commercial operation as part of the SSJ100 aircraft. "UEC-Saturn" is the first Russian company possessing a full range of competencies certified in Russia and in Europe and related to the development, serial production, maintenance and repair of civil aircraft engines.

The SaM146 engine based on the combination of experience and new technologies of Russian and Western engine-building fully meets modern environmental requirements. The optimized by-pass ratio and the reduced fan speed have allowed us to considerably decrease the noise caused by engine operation and to have a margin versus the ICAO Chapter 4 regulations. The combustion chamber is designed to ensure a low pollutant emission level and compliance with CAEP/8 regulations. The SaM146 design comprises a single-stage fan, a three-stage low-pressure compressor, a six-stage high-pressure compressor, an annular combustion chamber, a single-stage high-pressure turbine and a three-stage low-pressure turbine. The engine control system is digital with full authority (FADEC type). The SaM146 engine has a wide thrust regulating range.

The SaM146 power plant is presented by UEC at the exhibition "Hydroaviasalon-2018".
