UEC has participated in the elaboration and issue of a national quality standard for work with suppliers

Moscow, September 25, 2018

The Quality Department of United Engine Corporation (a company of Rostec State Corporation) took part in the elaboration and issue of new GOST R 58175-2018 Aeronautical Products. Management of Suppliers in the Process of Building Aeronautical Products. General Requirements.

  Aeronautical products are considered to be the most high-technology, science-intensive and sophisticated products. As a result of global changes in the last three decades, the number of suppliers in the aerospace industry has grown drastically and thus the regulation of quality management processes for product deliveries is gaining in importance.

  Within the sitting of the Aviation Industry Quality Board under the chairmanship of Denis Manturov, Minister of Industry and Trade of the RF, the aerospace corporations were assigned to work out and submit proposals for the definition of common approaches to the appraisal system applicable to suppliers of aeronautical product components, including those:

   •    for the development of uniform requirements for suppliers of aeronautical product components, quality indices and indicators for aeronautical product components and their assessment criteria;
   •    for the development of a system to control compliance with the requirements for suppliers of aeronautical product components, quality indices and indicators of aeronautical product components;
   •    for the elaboration of a regulatory document specifying requirements for drawing up programs of the development of Russian aeronautical product component suppliers.

   The working group on the elaboration of the national standard, composed of representatives of UEC, Russian Helicopters and UAC, started working in January 2018 and as soon as by July GOST R 58175-2018 had already been validated though an order of Rosstandart. The first revision of GOST R includes the best of the proposals and comments forwarded by professionals of the aviation industry.

   Goals and objectives of the standard:

   •    To lay down rules and regulations common for all companies of the industry for the management of suppliers in the process of building aeronautical products;
   •    To establish a regulatory framework as a basis for a supplier management system, ensuring the required quality of deliveries, securing safety and failure-free operation of aernautical products;
   •    To set unified requirements for suppliers, including project management, design and development, quality assurance, production, management of supply chains, after-sales service.

   As pointed out by Anton Shalaev, Deputy Head of the Federal Agency of Technical Regulation and Metrology, issuing GOST R 58175-2018 is a “fine example of the elaboration and release of a new GOST within the shortest possible time (a bit longer than half a year)”.
