JSC UEC-Saturn has joined the nationwide campaign "A Week with No Turnstiles"

14.10.2019
October 14, 2019, Rybinsk. – It has become a tradition that in October hundreds of engine-builders head for Saturn for taking part in the Open Doors Day. The aim is to look themselves and to show their family members what has been created by the enterprise, to plunge into the company's past and present, into the world of high-techs and wide experience of its personnel, to perceive the scale of tasks solved here, on the land of Rybinsk. UEC-Saturn (a part of United Engines Corporation, a Rostech State Corporation Company, a member of the all-Russian industrial association of employers “Russia’s Mechanical Engineers Union”) held the Open Doors Day within the framework of “A Week with No Turnstiles” campaign organized by Russia’s Mechanical Engineers Union. The event became a nice present to Saturn's employees on the occasion of its upcoming 103d anniversary.

Tours of UEC-Saturn shops and departments continued all day long. Groups of 20 to 30 visitors each followed one another. The insight into the exhibition hall, the design bureau, the laboratory-and-production shop, a machining-and-assembly facility, the assembly shop and test cells presented the visitors to the company's activity, to the complete cycle of gas-turbine engines creation, while a journey from one object to another gave them an overview of the industrial premises, the "city in the city" as Saturn is called.

According to the undivided opinion of the participants and organizers, the annual Open Doors Day in the frame of “A week with no turnstiles" is a very interesting event.  When engine-builders come to their workplaces together with their family members, they feel proud of the results of their job and support from their family. The Open Doors Day also has a strong vocational-guidance component.

"Such events help to capture the results of the whole plant's labour. This is a good motivation for the youth; they can see a product, they understand what it is for," says Aleksey Golubev, a lead test engineer. "There is an interest, which may grow into the urge to choose an occupation linked with engine building, with work for Saturn. It's great when someone wishes to build engines for aircraft, someone contributes to make this engine more powerful, to make it fly faster."

"For both children and grown-ups it is interesting and useful to know what the origins of the enterprise are, how design ideas were developed, to take a look at finished products,” confides Olga Pavlushenkova, a senior inspector foreman. “It is already the second time we have visited the plant: at first we were here with my elder son, he enjoyed it a lot; today we are with the younger one. The kids keep cheerful emotions after a visit to Saturn for long."

UEC-Saturn took part in the nationwide campaign of Russia’s Mechanical Engineers Union "A Week with No Turnstiles" for the fifth time. The enterprise also undertakes vocational-guidance activities. Thus, with the assistance from the municipal Department of Education, students from 58 Rybinsk schools visited UEC-Saturn during the 2018/2019 school year. 64 schools have already applied for an enterprise visit during the 2019/2020 school year.
