PJSC UEC-Saturn's team was ranked the first at a hackathon in Ufa

10.12.2019
December 10, 2019, Rybinsk. – A team of PJSC UEC-Saturn (part of United Engine Corporation, Rostec State Corporation company, a member of the All-Russian industrial association of employers “Russia’s Mechanical Engineers Union”) was ranked the first among 15 teams of a military-industrial sector and universities at the All-Russian marathon on simulation, design and new technologies in mechanic engineering. The marathon was held in the format of a hackathon on December 4-7, 2019 in the Ufa State Aviation Technical University. PJSC UEC-Saturn was represented by Pavel Golubev, Head of combustion chamber design and calculation team, by Maria Gerasimova, Process engineer, shop 767, by Nikita Fedorov, Process engineer, shop 790 and Salavat Khasanov, Leading design engineer, combustion chambers and exhaust system design department. Dmitri Ivanov, PJSC UEC-Saturn's Director on the innovative development, was a member of an expert jury.

The hackathon was organized by the Ufa State Aviation Technical University under the sponsorship of a Federal agency on youth affairs (Russian youth) and under information support from the All-Russian industrial association of employers “Russia’s Mechanical Engineers Union”.  The event of such a format was held in Ufa for the first time and it was attended by students of Russian technical colleges and young professionals of Russian machinery enterprises who have worked at their projects during four days. During these days, they developed a solution for a practical production task that was set up by experts of leading machinery enterprises with due account for relevant production issues.

The participants applied their professional competences, practical experience and teamwork skills, having created an original project.   Within a short time of the hackathon the teams performed all necessary calculations, they were involved in simulation, design activities and they also made prototypes of their technical solutions in a form of mock-ups and assessed how efficiently they were implemented.   By the end of the hackathon, all teams defended their projects to the competent jury.

At hackaton, five tasks were proposed, which presupposed development of a new design or modification of the existing design in order to improve its parameters.  Every team was due to choose one of the proposed tasks and to solve it during three days.  The way to solve the task and its sufficiency were only dependent on team's creativity, knowledge and skills.  PJSC UEC-Saturn's representatives have chosen a task to develop a pneumometric probe.  Within three days they managed to develop a fascinating design, to perform required calculations, to develop its manufacturing process using additive technologies. The probe prototype was produced at FDM printer and probe cost was assessed.

"The past hackathon is an unique event in machinery industry, – pointed out Dmitri Ivanov, PJSC UEC-Saturn's Director on the innovative development,  a member of the "Digital industry" working team affiliated to Russia's Ministry of Industry and Trade, Deputy Head of the Technet working team. – As usual, such events are held in IT-industry; therefore, it is especially pleasant that PJSC UEC-Saturn's team was ranked the first.  During the competitive battle we succeeded to demonstrate that extensive competences of our professionals in new production technologies sphere are the best ones.  This fact is proven by an independent assessment of the company's members and managers at the all-Russian marathon on the simulation, design and new technologies in mechanical engineering.
